One of our major strategies is addressing the most needed yet unaddressed community needs. One of such needs among the elderly in Kisoko is special needs and disability. One much person is Nyachwo Alistera, 63 who used to crawl her way round the village with all the risks that it entailed. HFTEMU was through a partners was able to provide her with a wheel chair and her life is a lot different and better with this device. Other interventions we are taking in this area include advocates for the rights of the disabled and lobbying for their inclusion and local support in community systems.
Some of our small interventions are making big differences in People’s lives. Mama Nyachwo Alistera who used to crawl around the village has not remained the same after receiving a wheel chair, clothes and food stuff from HFTEMU donated to her by Lindsey Copeland from U.SA.
